Itinerary
-
Arrival in Tuxtla Gutiérrez.
Our team will greet you at the airport, We’ll meet at 10:30 a.m. for a welcome briefing so everyone can connect before the adventure begins.
Next, we’ll head to the majestic Sumidero Canyon, one of Mexico’s natural wonders, with towering walls reaching up to 1,000 meters.
We’ll navigate through its ancient rock formations home to crocodiles, birds, and landscapes that feel timeless.
In the afternoon, we’ll explore Chiapa de Corzo, a charming Pueblo Mágico known for its colonial architecture and rich history. We’ll stroll through its colorful streets and iconic plaza before enjoying a traditional Chiapanecan dinner to end our first day together.
-
We leave Tuxtla before sunrise and head to the community of General Cárdenas inside the El Ocote Biosphere Reserve.
We begin a 16 km (9.9 miles) hike through the jungle, stunning viewpoints, and wild natural scenery.
Along the way, horses carry part of our gear as we venture deeper into the forest until we reach the entrance to El Arco del Tiempo.
The adventure continues with a 16 meter rappel (52.5 feet) next to El Ensueño waterfall, followed by tubing along the La Venta River to enter the Arco, one of the largest natural rock arches in the world (190 m / 623 ft tall).
We end the day setting up our camp inside the Arco, enjoying the river, nature, and a shared dinner under the stars.
-
We begin the morning enjoying our last breakfast inside el Arco del Tiempo.
Afterward, we’ll break down our camp and start the ascent along the walls of this extraordinary place, completing the final challenge of the journey.
We then return to the trail that leads back to the community of General Cárdenas, where our adventure began, and continue our route toward our next destination: San Cristóbal de las Casas.
We’ll arrive around 8:00 p.m. enjoy dinner, and get a well-deserved rest after such an unforgettable adventure.
-
We wake up in the beautiful Magic Town of San Cristóbal de las Casas, one of Mexico’s most charming colonial cities. After the intense adventure of previous days, we’ll enjoy a relaxed breakfast around 9:00 AM.
We’ll then explore the city on foot, visiting the city’s iconic pedestrian streets (Andadores), full of artisan shops and the vibrant culture of the Tzotzil and Tzeltal communities.
During the walk, we’ll also try posh, one of Chiapas’ most traditional drinks.
The afternoon will be free time to enjoy cafés, restaurants, and artisan markets with textiles and clay crafts.
Since San Cristóbal sits at over 2,000 meters above sea level, it’s a good idea to bring a sweater for the cooler weather.
-
We’ll leave San Cristóbal de las Casas at 6:30 AM and head to the community of Tzimol, arriving around 8:30 a.m. to meet our local guides.
From there, we’ll begin a 6-hour canyoning adventure through two stunning blue-water waterfalls among the bluest in Chiapas.
Along the way, we’ll enjoy jumps, rappelling, natural slides, swimming, and other exciting activities. All gear is included, plus breakfast, a snack, and GoPro photos and videos.
Difficulty: Moderate.
By late afternoon, we’ll continue to the Magic Town of Comitán de Domínguez, where we’ll enjoy a traditional dinner.
-
We’ll start with an early breakfast at the cabin in front of the lake.
Then we’ll have our tour in the iconic Montebello Lakes, known for their incredible blue, turquoise, green, and emerald colors. We’ll hike for about two hours to reach some hidden lakes accessed only with local guides and community permits.
We’ll spend the day exploring lakes along the Guatemala border, where we can ride traditional wooden log rafts, reach a small island, and enjoy swimming in crystal-clear waters.

This is not a trip you can take at any time.
Access to this breathtaking place is only allowed from December to May, and to protect the ecosystem, only 20 people are allowed to camp per night.
